patient wearing wristband

Hospitals can be harsh environments. And as such, patient wristbands must meet many strict requirements.

  • Quick and easy to use. Hospital staff are very busy dealing with patients. They require a patient wristband solution that is quick to implement and uncomplicated
  • Safety of patient data. Data protection is of utmost importance in a hospital. Any breach of this can destroy patient privacy and confidentiality. As such, wristbands should always remain secure on the patient to reduce the risk of theft or loss
  • Resistant to harsh substances. Hospitals regularly use substances such as hand sanitizer and hot water. So wristband data needs to remain resistant to such liquids
  • Patient comfort. Patients may be in hospital for a while. So, while wearing a wristband, a patient will want to feel comfortable at all times. As such, wristband material needs to be soft and non-irritant
  • Prolonged use. Patient use of wristbands during a hospital stay could be over a potentially long period. Therefore, they need to be durable to survive this

Thankfully, SATO laser wristbands are an excellent choice for outpatients and short-stay patients. This is because they are quick and easy to use, secure, comfortable and long-lasting. Read on to find out more.

How does laser printing work?

Laser printing works by projecting an image of a page to an electrically charged rotating drum. Photoconductivity allows charged electrons to fall away from areas exposed to light. Powdered ink particles then become electrostatically attracted to parts of the drum that haven’t been laser beamed. The drum then transfers the image to paper through direct contact while passing through the machine. The final step of the process is that paper passes to the finisher using heat which fuses the toner and image to the paper.
